Fire rating classification of exterior wall insulation materials
1. The national standard GB8624-97 in China divides the combustion performance of building materials into the following levels
Grade A: Non combustible building materials: Inorganic materials that almost do not undergo combustion.
B1 level: Flame retardant building materials: Flame retardant materials have good flame retardant properties. It is difficult to catch fire when exposed to open flames in the air or under high temperatures, and it is not easy to spread quickly.
B2 level: Combustible building materials: Combustible materials have a certain flame retardant effect. When exposed to open flames in the air or under high temperatures, it will immediately ignite and burn, which can easily lead to the spread of fires, such as wooden pillars, wooden frames, wooden beams, wooden stairs, etc.
B3 level: flammable building materials: have no flame retardant effect, are extremely flammable, and have a high fire risk.
2. External wall insulation materials can be classified according to fire protection level
1. Insulation materials with A-level combustion performance:
Inorganic insulation materials, rock wool, glass wool, foam glass, foam ceramics, foam cement, etc
2. Insulation materials with combustion performance of B1 level:
Specially treated extruded polystyrene board (XPS)/Specially treated polyurethane (PU), phenolic aldehyde, adhesive powder polystyrene particles, etc
3. Insulation materials with B2 level combustion performance:
Molded polystyrene board (EPS), extruded polystyrene board (XPS), polyurethane (PU), polyethylene (PE), etc
